Prospective Students

Why should I take music lessons?

1. Individual instruction

Every music student has different strengths, weaknesses, and interests. Private lessons are tailored to each person’s needs. Working one-on-one with a teacher, while focusing on issues specific to your instrument, is invaluable for developing a young musician. Students who have regular, specialized instruction progress much faster on their instruments than students who don’t.

2. Develop focus and discipline

By setting weekly goals and working on appropriately challenging material, students taking private lessons learn skills that carry over into all areas of their lives.

3. Well-rounded music study

In addition to learning instrument technique, students who take private lessons learn musical skills like ear training, music theory, rhythm, performance skills, listening skills, and musicianship.

4. Low brass instruments are always the featured instruments.

Low brass instruments are the best instruments! In young band music, the low brass parts are often in the background and are not always used in the most interesting or exciting ways. In lessons, you will get to play solos, duets, and other fun and challenging music.

5. Have more fun!

Playing an instrument becomes more fulfilling and enjoyable as you improve and hone your abilities. You can play more challenging music and embrace the feelings of achievement and accomplishment as you continue to grow as a musician.

Working under the guidance of a private instructor is one of the best things you can do to harness your musical potential. If you have any questions along the way, please feel free to contact me at any time for anything musically related or otherwise. I am fully committed to your musical success!
